Jim Thomas was with Company E, 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry from August, 1969 to September, 1970.  He served in the 4.2 Mortar Platoon which was located on FSB Hill 4-11.  His unit went on several missions in the field to provide 4.2 inch mortar support for the line infantry companies.
