Ron Benzing's Photos
Ron Benzing was a chaplain assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry during 1968 and 1969. During his tour of duty he went out to the field many, many times to support his troops. On December 24, 1968 he spent time on an LZ called Christmas Hill with a company of troops.
This is John Walker and another soldier in front of the memorial board at the back of the 3rd/1st Memorial Chapel. This chapel was dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the 3rd/1st after LTC Walter Pritchard was killed. On the board, Ron had a brass plate made with each soldier’s name, birth and death dates.
