{"id":10553,"date":"2026-02-18T18:21:32","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T18:21:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onlinedemoserver10.com\/firesupportbasehill4-11\/?page_id=10553"},"modified":"2026-02-18T22:13:54","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T22:13:54","slug":"11th-light-infantry-brigade","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/onlinedemoserver10.com\/firesupportbasehill4-11\/11th-light-infantry-brigade\/","title":{"rendered":"11th Light Infantry Brigade"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"10553\" class=\"elementor elementor-10553\" data-elementor-post-type=\"page\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8cefca3 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"8cefca3\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9140640 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-child\" data-id=\"9140640\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d03e2c0 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"d03e2c0\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c1a080a elementor-widget__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"c1a080a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"149\" src=\"https:\/\/onlinedemoserver10.com\/firesupportbasehill4-11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/11th.gif\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-image-10561\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7209e43 elementor-widget__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7209e43\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The 11th Infantry Brigade was originally organized in the Regular Army on December 4, 1917 at Camp Forrest, Georgia, as an element of the 6th Division and served as part of the division during World War I.\u00a0\u00a0The brigade was credited with two campaign participations during World War I:\u00a0\u00a0Alsace 1918 and Muese-Agronne.<\/p><p>After inactivation in 1921, the 11th Brigade was assigned on inactive status.\u00a0\u00a0The 11th Brigade was reconstituted on April 15, 1966 as a Regular Army unit, and was reactivated on July 1, 1966 at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.\u00a0\u00a0Under the new organization, the 11th Brigade consisted of the following units:<\/p><ul><li>1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment<b><\/b><\/li><li><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinedemoserver10.com\/firesupportbasehill4-11\/3rd-battalion-1st-infantry\/\">3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment<\/a><\/b><\/li><li>4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment<\/li><li>4th Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment (In correctly listed as the 4th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment in the Americal History book published in 1971)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinedemoserver10.com\/firesupportbasehill4-11\/e-troop-1st-cavalry\/\"><b>Troop E, 1st Cavalry<\/b><\/a>.<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p>Beginning in early 1967, the brigade trained extensively in jungle operations in preparation for commitment to Vietnam.\u00a0\u00a0To stress realism in the Vietnam-oriented tactical training, the brigade conducted &#8220;live-fire&#8217; operations in the rugged, thickly-vegetated terrain of the Koolau Mountains on the island of Oahu.<\/p><p>The advance party, consisting of 350 personnel with representation from all brigade units, departed Hawaii by aircraft on November 28, 1967, for\u00a0<b><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinedemoserver10.com\/firesupportbasehill4-11\/duc-pho-vietnam\/\">Duc Pho<\/a><\/b>, Quang Ngai Province, I Corps Tactical Zone, Republic of Vietnam.<\/p><p>Prior to joining the Americal Division, intensive in-country training was conducted for a month.\u00a0\u00a0Upon completion of this training, the 11th Infantry Brigade moved from Landing Zone Carentan to their permanent base camp at\u00a0<b><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinedemoserver10.com\/firesupportbasehill4-11\/duc-pho-vietnam\/\">Landing Zone Bronco<\/a><\/b>, near Duc Pho, in late January 1968.\u00a0\u00a0A fourth infantry battalion, the 4th Battalion, 21st Infantry, joined the &#8220;Jungle Warriors&#8221; in April 1968.
