I have watched Kia mature from college handball player to a vibrant young woman who is enthusiastic about life and its challentes. She has made me reconziae the importance of tgood nutrition, proper training habits and has alraised the consciousness of others. Her personality is always upbeat; she displays a strong and positive attitude which is evident to those around her and is reflected in her daily life. She excels in many sports through extremely hard work; she listens to and watches others in their sport to see how she can improve on her performance.

Kia has been a tribute to handball both on and off the court.

Off the court she has contributed to our great game as the Woman’s Commissioner, as a leader in developing new players, and by the example she sets for others by her interest in the game. For example, being the first woman to receive a level 4 referees certification inspires others to go for it. Kia is dynamic, energetic, enthused and committed woman. She gives all of her self to what ever she chooses to do.

As a player on the court she is an inspiration She cares significantly about the way in which she plays the game, not only about the outcome. She is a positive role model for me because of the endless hard work, never tiring, continually striving. She I inspirational to me because of her desire to improve not only her game, but her quality of life. But, she isn’t satisfied with improving her own life, she also works to improve the quality of others lives. Kia works at all aspects of her life, the mental, the physical and the spiritual. She inspirs me to continually work hard to improve myself and give to others.

As an athlete Kia has numerous accomplishments – she is the epitome of talented consistency year after year.

We have known Kia for almost 10 years. She has always exemplified a unique personal integrity in her relationships with others on all levels. She contributed greatly to the fostering of women’s play in the game of handball (not an easy feat) by promoting and conducting free clinics for women – beginners to experienced, complimenting the learner’s positive talents while gently introducing and reinforcing new skills, neve in a depreciating fashion. Kia is a very hard-working stiving individual, always developing and improving her game from one year to the next. Her dedication has allowed her to rise to the top in a very short time. The dedication that Kia displays on the court, also carries over into her personal life. She has an uncanny ability to concentrate intensely at anyt task she sets her mind to – she doesn’t get distracted from reaching her goals. She is a person who can be counted on, a woman of her word. As competitive as she is, Kia also has a very beautiful, gentle, womanly quality – her spiritual side. She has encouraged me with the inner strength that she is willing to share to lift one when one is t her lowest. We are privileged to be able to call Kia our friend.

Kia and I were on the Board of directors of the US Handball Association – Kia was the National Woman’s Commissioner. I was drawn to Kia at the time due to her openness, friendliness, her willingness to take a stand, and most of all her integrity. Her love for handball was very strong, but her sense of fairness was just as great. If something did not striker her as being the correct thing to do, she did everything in her power to make it right. Kia was the women’s Commissioner at a time when handball for women was going through a somewhat rough transition.

Kia has helped innumerable people enjoy the game of handball by conducting clinics, teaching classes, helping run tournaments, and generally being a great ambassador for handball.

Kia is outgoing, fun-loving personality is infectious. She is always a joy to be around, and some of her greatest rewards come from helping people be the best they can be. She hs been a very positive influence in my life and a role model for me in how to conduct myself and to be a positive influence for others.

Kia is a fierce competitor and enjoys success as one of the top handball players I n the country. As evidenced by her athletic accomplishments, when she puts her mind and body toward a goal of success, it usually comes true, be it at the handball court, running triathlons or showing hoses in equestrian events. B her actions and by her deeds, Kia has done the game of handball proud, along with all other sports she has competed in and I am very fortunate to be able to call her my friend
